ROCKET MATTER CELEBRATES TWO-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BY LAUNCHING ROCKET MATTER PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Company marks milestone and expands services to include custom import work and tailored training options

BOCA RATON, FL – February 2, 2010 – Rocket Matter®, the leading Web-based legal practice management and time and billing solution for small to mid-sized law firms, today announced the two-year anniversary since their public launch. As part of the company’s continued growth and vision to provide excellent customer service, they now offer Rocket Matter Professional Services to minimize downtime as law firms migrate from their old software to the company’s newer Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.

“For the past two years we’ve sought to make the transition to Rocket Matter easy for law firms,” stated Larry Port, Founding Partner and Chief Software Architect for Rocket Matter. “We know that moving from one application to another can be disruptive and time consuming, and we have rolled out a lot of free training and data import functionality. But we realize that firms, especially larger ones, have more specialized requirements that benefit from customized, dedicated attention.”

Rocket Matter Professional Services will now be offered in addition to many already existing free options for data import and training. When starting to use Rocket Matter, new clients have the ability to import their Outlook calendar and contacts, vCard files and Internet calendar records. They are also able to pull data in from Gmail, Google Calendar, Mac Address Book, and many other standards-compliant programs.

As part of Rocket Matter Professional Services, Product Specialists are available to help manage more involved imports from programs such as Time Matters, Amicus Attorney, PC Law, Tabs3, and others as well as set up specialized, custom-training programs to help firms make a smooth and quick transition.

If you are interested in learning more about Rocket Matter, visit www.rocketmatter.com or look for the company at leading legal technology events in the industry such as Virtual LegalTech, LegalTech New York, and the ABA Tech Show.

It was a very busy Q4 for us at Rocket Matter and we’re excited to roll out some brand new functionality. You can now SIGN YOURSELF UP WITHOUT TALKING TO US! This seemed to be important for a lot of people. Don’t worry, we don’t take it personally.

But first of all, take a look at our beautiful new Calendar page, containing the following user-requested improvements:

1. Recurring Events: Hooray! Makes it easy to plan regular meetings (great for Agile and GTD practitioners scheduling regular meetings).

2. Event Tagging: Now, take notes in your Calendar Event during a meeting and tag it for later reference, without having to create a note. Also tag birthdays, jurisdictions, what have you.

3. Stability improvements for Accept/Decline: Let others know your attending status for your meeting. Great for larger firms!

A picture paints a thousand words:

Note how easy and flexible our recurring event creation is. You don’t have to deal with pop-up windows and you have the ability to set any frequency over days, weekdays, weeks, months, or years:

Here’s a picture of our tag search results grid. Type a tag name into the Global Intelligent Search, and you can locate information across Contacts, Matters, Notes, Documents, and now Calendar Events:

So sign up now and take Rocket Matter for a spin risk-free! Our new installation page walks you through the process, and we’ve provided simple importers to get your existing data into Rocket Matter without causing a major disruption to your firm.

We’re asked so often about Rocket Matter’s capabilities to import data from other software that I thought I would address this in a blog post.

* If you can export your contacts, matter, and calendar information in a CSV, then we can import it into Rocket Matter. This is the case with Amicus, Time Matters, and other market leading software.

* We attempt to match the fields from your old program into our fields as best we can. When they don’t match exactly, we preserve your data for reference in a “notes” field for the contact, matter, or calendar event.

* If you’re bringing in Contact data and have the capability, providing vCards is a very accurate way of moving your data from one system to another.

* If you’re bringing in Calendar data and have the capability, supply us with an Internet Calendar (iCalendar or ics file) for the best migration.

* We recommend only bringing over active data. Keep old matters in your legacy system for reference, but don’t pollute your new system with old information if you can help it. For active matters, it’s best to bring in just the balance for the matter and start from there.

* You will have to take a look at your exported data and see if it’s any good. CSV files work by having the field label in the first row, like “Home Phone”, and the data in the rows underneath. We often see bad exports, for example “Mr.” will appear under “First Name”, not “Salutation”. Also, contacts may only have email addresses listed.

* Before you send your export files over, take a look and make sure it’s what you’d like to bring into your new Rocket Matter system.

Yesterday I received a package from Newegg, which I’ve always found exceptional due to their low prices and excellent customer service.

The package contained my new Scansnap 300M and some blank DVDs. Keeping them all in place were not peanuts, bubble wrap, or air pockets, but an enormously long coiled sheet of recycled paper.

I was happy since there was nothing to clean up. The kids were happy that we received a 20 foot paper snake in the mail. And then this morning, I received an email from Newegg. They wanted my opinions on the giant paper packing snake:

We have started testing an environmentally responsible, renewable, reusable and recyclable paper packaging material from Ranpak Corp. called FILLPAK TT®. As part of our commitment to our customers, we would like to offer you the opportunity to help us evaluate this new material by completing the questions and comments below.

Wow. Not only is Newegg moving in an environmentally responsible direction, they want to know what I think about it. Add that to their quick service and low prices, and it adds up to a company that clearly cares. And that’s what keeps us coming back.
