Great post Larry. One of the obstacles to open standards within the legal technology arena appears to be vendor and vendor consultant reticence to work with existing standards bodies to develop standards. There are examples of groups attempting (and championing) XML work, however, when one looks at the real driving factors for an "open standard", the customer centricity appears to be lacking. Keep up your "awareness" campaign - maybe it will help change standards focus from vendor-consultant centricity to true customer centricity.
