      Shelter Animals of the Week

It’s no secret we love animals here at Rocket Matter. Collectively, we have given many dogs, cats, bunnies, a turtle, a bird, and even a boa constrictor a home. However, we know not all animals are so lucky. Millions of loving creatures are living in shelters, often lacking attention, love, and care. That’s why we want to help get the word out about shelter pets each week.
      This week’s shelter pets:
Matti, a 2-month-old female Pit Bull Terrier, available at the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

Here’s what they have to say about Matti:
I am a 2-month old pit-bull mix puppy who is looking for my new home! I am very rambunctious and have A LOT of energy and will need an active family to keep me well stimulated and exercised. I need to work on my manners (including house-breaking) and can be quite jumpy and mouthy – sometimes I can nibble quite hard and will need to learn not to chew on hands! For this reason I would not do well with young children (under 10 years old). I also can be very vocal and may do better in a home rather than an apartment where neighbors might complain. I ideally should go home to another dog that can help me become socialized and learn to behave around other dogs. I will definitely need obedience classes, which are conveniently offered ARL Boston for a discounted rate for adopters! If you are interested in learning more about me, please stop by the Adoption Center today!
Matti will be spayed and vaccinated prior to going home. Her adoption fee is $450.
The Animal Rescue League of Boston has another cutie up for adoption: Tommy, a 2-year-old male domestic shorthair tabby.

Tommy is a bold and handsome 2-year-old man looking for a cat savvy home. He came to us from another rescue where he was around a lot of other cats, and has shown great interest in cats while in our shelter, so he would probably do well going to a home with another cat. Though he could live with another cat, he should go to a home without any dogs. He is what we call a high arousal cat. He enjoys petting, and like most cats, will display affection when they want something (like food) but there are times when Tommy can give you a funny look and box you with his paw because it is his method of play. If you are interested in meeting him, we will show you this behavior so you are knowledgeable about his mannerisms. He is assertive and should go to an owner experienced with cats having behavioral quirks.
It is expected that Tommy may hide initially when he moves to a new home, until he acclimates, as this is the behavior he displayed at the shelter.
Tommy is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home.
