Shelter Animals of the Week: Pit Bulls Charlie Brown and Alyza
It’s no secret we love animals here at Rocket Matter. Collectively, we have given many dogs, cats, bunnies, a turtle, a bird, and even a boa constrictor a home. However, we know not all animals are so lucky. Millions of loving creatures are living in shelters, often lacking attention, love, and care. That’s why we want to help get the word out about shelter pets each week.
This week’s shelter pets:
Charlie Brown, a Pit Bull/Terrier puppy available at Tri-County Animal Rescue, a fantastic No-Kill shelter in Boca Raton. The site says he’s super sweet (and obviously RIDICULOUSLY cute!)
There’s another Pit Bull who needs a home: Alyza, a female at Save A Dog in Sudbury, MA
Why another Pit Bull? Well, these dogs really get a bad rap. A lot of people think they are too aggressive and prone to violence. There are SO many stereotypes about this breed, as well as breeds such as Rotweillers, German Shepherds, and Doberman Pinschers. And those stereotypes are wrong. No breed is inherently violent, as this article by dog trainer Zak George explains. So give these animals a chance.
Here’s what the site says about Alyza: My name is Alyza and I’m a 5 year old spayed friendly girl. I am gentle with babies and toddlers and dogs. I lived with five children at one time, from infants to eight years old. My family used to prop the baby on me as a pillow. I lived with another small dog too and am being fostered with 3 other dogs. If you think you can adopt me, I will be your best friend for life! I know sit, stay, and paw and I understand just about everything you tell me. I’m obsessed with tennis balls, but I also destroy them so sometimes you have to hide them from me. I’m house trained. I sleep in my crate at night and I don’t chew anything in your house during the day. I can get excited, but I also know how to “chill”. I weigh around 46 lbs. I am in a foster home with 3 other dogs and I get along with everyone. Nothing makes me happier than being with my people and chewing on a bone or a tennis ball. Please apply online here so that I can meet you.
