Book Review: Secrets of Lawyer Video Marketing by Gerry Oginski

    Contents

Gerry Oginski is synonymous with lawyer videos. He’s an evangelist for the medium and preaches about how lawyers can use video to communicate and market online.

His recently published 300-page book is chock full of useful, actionable information. Like the chapters on How to Convert a Viewer into a Caller, How Not to Create Attorney Videos, and the very useful Step-by-Step Video Guide.

Mr. Oginski uses QR codes on the cover and throughout the book allowing you to capture videos of related messages on your smartphone. Nice touch. He certainly practices what he preaches.

Towards the end of the book is a chapter covering a few important video tips for lawyers. They include, What you should never include in your video (hint: don’t talk about yourself), What to include in your video (hint: use your newsletter as fodder), length of video, and creating interesting headlines.

Especially meaningful, is the author’s sharing of his personal journey – leaving the comforts of a big law firm to open his own practice and the twists and turns he took to discover education-based marketing.

So, does video marketing work for lawyers? Find out in the excerpts that Mr. Oginski includes in many of the 27 chapters where he and others share their experience with using video as a marketing tool.

Many will find this book useful, from solo practitioners to law firm marketers.
