App of the Week: Audio Memos – A Better Voice Recorder

    Contents

Let’s face it, if you plan on using a voice recorder app, the built-in Voice Memos app on your iPhone is not ideal. It lacks any features besides record and play, and playback quality is often less than desirable . Enter: Audio Memos. Not only does it produce a rich sound quality, but Audio Memos also boasts numerous ways to control, edit, and transfer your recordings.
Once you have your recording (of unlimited length), you can easily share it through e-mail, or upload it to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi. If you need to tweak or add to what you’re hearing, the incredibly simple interface guides you to re-record parts of the audio (if you make a mistake), insert new recordings in the middle, or add markers to certain points in the recording. More features include combining recordings and attaching pictures to voice memos while you record.
These features are a bit overwhelming and come with a bit of a learning curve, so I encourage watching the video tutorial they provide. Once you do, it becomes easy to navigate the app and you can take advantage of all of their unique offerings.
Of course, Audio Memos does have its competition. Besides Voice Memos, DropVox, which immediately transfers recordings to Dropbox, and QuickVoice Pro, which allows users to email recordings as text, are viable alternatives. However, these come with glitches and downsides.
In conclusion, if you need an audio recorder with bells and whistles that functions the smoothest, Audio Memos, available in iOS and Android for $0.99, is the best option.
