Legal Productivity App of the Week – Get Your Travel On With TripIt

    Contents

We travel for work, to attend conferences and certainly for play. We use Kayak, Expedia and a host of online travel sites – even the new Google Flights – to book our trips.

Now we can have all of our travel information – flight and hotel and car rental reservations, available at our fingertips with TripIt – the mobile app that aims to drag traveling kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Just forward your confirmation emails to TripIt and instantly create a mobile travel itinerary. That’s it!

On a recent trip, my flight and hotel reservations were made separately, I simply forwarded each email to TripIt and almost instantly a detailed itinerary was created and available on my mobile device and my web based account. It included flights, hotel and maps with directions from the airpot to my hotel.

Adjust account settings to automatically add your flight information to a calendar application or connect to LinkedIn and Facebook to share your travel plans. You can even get a TripIt Blog Badge to share your location, upcoming trips and travel stats on your blog.

Upgrade to TripIt Pro for $49 per year for alerts about delays and cancellations, help with finding alternate flights, track your frequent flyer points, account information, balances, and expirations in one place, and even get flight refunds when eligible. I’m OK with the free app for now, though the frequent flyer points tracker may nudge me to upgrade before too long.

We’re all about productivity and getting organized and TripIt fits the bill, so download the app, leave your printouts at home and enjoy the convenience of one of the more useful mobile travel applications.
