Legal Cloud Computing Review for Family Lawyers

Rocket Matter - Cloud Computing - Cloud Software - Legal Billing SoftwareRecently we had the privilege of being reviewed by Mr. Joseph Booth of the ABA’s Family Law Advocate and attorney from Shawnee Mission, Kansas, for his article about legal cloud computing.

Mr. Booth gives a great overview of “Software as a Service,” cloud computing, and all the terms floating around what’s essentially browser-based computing for attorneys.

He reviewed Rocket Matter and two of our web-based competitors, and was impressed enough by us to sign up as a customer as well!

…only Larry Port from Rocket Matter called back for an interview. Mr. Port is a founder and architect of the software and discussed the differences between his product and others. For Rocket Matter, the goal is practice management, designing and implementing a product that generates efficiency in the practice of law. Practitioners document billings before going on to the next project, without interrupting workflow. Developers noticed that significant blocks of time went unbilled when a timekeeper relied on memory to document billings retrospectively.

The combination of a new, more robust system and personal access to the people of Rocket Matter convinced me to switch vendors. This highlights one remarkable advantage of cloud-based systems: spontaneity. Because the service provider supplies all software and hardware, moving from one vendor to another involves little to no effort or expense for the user. Both old and new services can be used concurrently.
