Wednesday Wisdom: Monitoring Your Accounts with the View Open Matters Report

Managing your clients with Rocket Matter® is both simple and fast. If you are a current user, you may already be familiar with our View Open Matters report. If not, using this report will allow you to screen your firm’s overall account management at a glance, efficiently and with just a couple clicks of the mouse.

The View Open Matters report will show you the status of each open client and matter, whether or not there is a statute of limitations, the date of most recent activity and the current balance on the account. To see how to quickly view and use this report, follow these simple steps:

1. From your user dashboard, click View Open Matters, on the right hand side of the screen. This will bring up the matter list screen, where you can customize the data you’d like displayed.

2. To view all open matters, check the Open box and hit Get Answer. You will now be viewing a list of all your open matters. To put the list to work, use it to screen for date of last activity and current balance. This will allow you to quickly prioritize which accounts need follow up quickly and those that have been recently contacted, or have smaller balances in comparison.

3. From here, you can drill down into any matter needing further attention, by clicking on the name. This will take you straight to the matter dashboard, where you will be able to see upcoming calendar events, pending tasks and all recent billable activity.
