iPad App: Aptorney – Research Solution for Lawyers on the Go

    Contents

Legal research is not only time consuming but it’s often costly. But with the emergence of the apps culture, lawyers can now access statutes and case laws on their tablets and mobile phones without having to step foot into a library.

One app that’s touted as being “the first mobile platform for publishing legal annotations and building an offline library” is Aptorney.

Aptorney is a legal research app that enables lawyers to search case laws and reference statutes from anywhere, whether they’re at the office or in court.

The app currently has statutes available for Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Federal courts.

According to the makers of the app, statutes are updated twice a year and there are plans to add more by this fall.

Users of the app are also able to locate cases from every jurisdiction in the United States and make annotations, which users are encouraged to share. To ensure credibility, practicing attorneys review annotations several times per week.

Additional benefits of the app include offline access, the ability to share your findings with colleagues through email, Twitter and Facebook and printing directly from the app.

Compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch, Aptorney is available for free in the app store for users who contribute by sharing annotations. However, there are two subscription options for non-contributors. The options include a monthly plan for $7.99 and an annual plan for $59.99.

If you’re looking for a free, easy-to-use solution to your legal researching needs, giving Aptorney a trial run is a must!
