App of the Week: Pixlr Express – Edit and Share Photos on the Go

Want to post a picture to Facebook but it’s not as perfect as you thought? Instead of emailing it to yourself, downloading the pic to your laptop and editing it, use Pixlr to quickly edit on your smartphone and then post or email.
I use the terrific, free, Pixlr online photo editor when I need to make edits beyond the capability of my computer’s native tools. The ability to layer images and text separates Pixlr from other online photo editors, and keeps me away from the very expensive and tedious Photoshop.
Though not as powerful, the mobile app – Pixlr Express PLUS – packs a punch. It lets you quickly crop, resize, and rotate images. It has red eye correction, and even teeth whitening options. The one-click “Auto-Fix” adjusts colors and light. And there’s the usual array of effects including mood-adjusting overlays, focal blurs, and border options.
You can snap a picture from within the app and edit or choose one from your stored photos, then share it via email or to Facebook and Twitter.
Dozens of additional effects and adjustment options round out this robust mobile photo editing app.
