Freelancers Union – A Great Resource for Solos

During an excellent webinar earlier today where Carolyn Elefant provided answers to Everything You Wanted To Know About Solo Practice But Were Afraid To Ask, I offered up the Freelancers Union as a great resource for solos and entrepreneurs starting out.

When I left the cozy confines of law firm life years ago to start a continuing legal education venture, the Freelancers Union kept popping up in my search for helpful resources for entrepreneurs. Here’s a run down of what they offer:

Health Insurance – This is often the number one concern for solo entrepreneurs. Freelancers Union offers members both group and individual insurance plans. Group plans offer members an opportunity to join together to purchase plans at a group rate. For group plans, Freelancers Union holds the group policy and all enrollees have access to our selection of plans. They also offer dental, life, and disability insurance plans.

Member discounts to office spaces, gym memberships and more – I’ve taken advantage of significant discounts for gym memberships and co-working office spaces. Other discounts include car rentals, hotel and office supplies

Jobs board – post a new job or look for one. A vibrant jobs board covering all industries from software and accounting to legal and marketing
