Highlights from the 2010 ALA Annual Conference & Exposition in Boston – Day 1

We’re having a wonderful time in Boston at the ALA Annual Conference & Exposition. The people from the ALA are doing an amazing job running the conference, and the attendees are very welcoming.

In spite of the water situation in Boston, the host city is terrific. The Back Bay / Newbury Street area of Boston is one of the most charming areas in the country, and the weather’s been amazing. The Red Sox are in town nearby, and every restaurant features really good beer.

I have to admit, we are officially out-schwagged on the exhibit floor by some folks giving out Star Wars Pez dispensers. About 15 companies are giving away iPads, several are giving away Kindles, and some even have pens. Pens! Our Rocket Matter Snuggie, Flying Cows, and new Limited Edition Slingshot Rockets are holding their own, however!

The conference attendees are terrific people – very engaged in the sessions and organization, and some have been attending for 15 years or more. There’s a lot of interest in our educational content, including our Legal Productivity Podcast and monthly Webinar series. We’re taking Flip video and will start releasing ALA Annual Conference Videos on our YouTube channel within the next week or so!
