Rocket Matter and Ruby Receptionists to Host Inaugural ABA TECHSHOW Marathon in 2018
At the 2017 ABA TECHSHOW, Rocket Matter® and Ruby Receptionists® hosted the event’s inaugural 5K. The outing had a great turnout and was highly popular with participants. It was such a success, in fact, that in 2018 these two companies will take it to the next level: They will be hosting the first ever ABA TECHSHOW marathon. That’s 26.2 miles of legal technology running bliss.
“I’ve attended TECHSHOW for nearly a decade, and it was always in the back of my mind to host a 5K,” says Rocket Matter CEO Larry Port. “The 5K was great —the attendees had a blast and overall it was just an amazing event. So when I talked to Ruby about hosting another race next year, we thought, ‘Why not go big?'”
Adds Kevin Gillam from Ruby, “Look, we are very committed to wellness here at Ruby Receptionists. And let’s face it. A 5K just isn’t enough these days. Plus, if you want to learn how to run a successful law practice you first have to run in the TECHSHOW Marathon.”
The legal tech community is already buzzing about this exciting event. Heidi Alexander, Practice Management Advisor from MASSLomap and participant in the 2017 TECHSHOW 5K, has committed to a sub-three-hour finish. Incoming TECHSHOW chairs Tom Mighell and Debbie Foster have accelerated their training so they can complete the race and then participate in Fujitsu’s CrossFit DOA Challenge the following day.
The race will start outside the Hyatt Chicago, the new locale of TECHSHOW. Runners will make their way up to the Northwestern University campus in Evanston where they will circle around and then head back down to the hotel.
The star-studded finish line will include celebrity chef Guy Fieri, who hand out post-race Marathon Burgers, and Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo, who will be there to sign autographs. What’s more, the first place male and female runners will each receive a $2000 donation toward their favorite charity.
If you want to train for the ABA TECHSHOW marathon, but you don’t know where to start, we recommend checking out this website. Hal Higdon is a world-renowned running expert who just so happens to hail from Chicago. His training programs are top notch.
See you at the race!
