My Website Traffic is Tanking- What Should I Do?
“My web site traffic is tanking. What should I do?”
This is a problem that is unfortunately very common for a lot of people right now. The people that were ahead of the ballgame a couple of years ago are no longer ahead of the ballgame.
Competition has heated up and everybody’s in the web site business. Everybody’s in the search engine optimization business and there’s just a lot of competition out there.
Furthermore, there’s not one silver bullet that’s going to do it for you. It’s not that you can just rely on your Google search engine rankings anymore. People are walking around with mobile devices. There’s social media right now that people are channeling.
There’s all these different opportunities for you to be able to get your word out there. Aside from establishing profiles in all the places that you need to be and getting listed in directories where you need to be (that aren’t Google, by the way), the best thing that you can probably do to quickly drive traffic to your site is engage in a targeted advertising campaign.
Making sure that you have ads that are optimized on Google – and Google isn’t just search-based ads, it’s also display ads so you can be in front of specific demographics, specific periodicals, things like that. You can be on Facebook. You can be on Twitter. You can be on Linked In. These are places where both businesses and consumers are and it’s a very easy way to reach them by advertising digitally. Unfortunately, though it’s paid, it’s probably the quickest way to turn poor site traffic performance around.
