WordPress Video Tutorials for Bloggers
If you blog or want to create an easy-to-manage website, consider using the popular (and free!) WordPress platform.
Writing a post or publishing a page is straightforward using the intuitive WordPress dashboard. But if you want to be more creative and dig a little – as we all inevitably do – you’ll probably have to mess with the code a bit or extend functionality with plugins. It can quickly get complicated, but with some help from the vibrant WordPress community, not impossible. Here are a few sites with helpful WordPress video tutorials to get you started.
WPBeginner – As the name indicates, this site provides tips, tricks and hacks for WordPress beginners, and the videos are basic, ranging from “How to Edit an Existing Post” to “Building Custom Menus.” You’ll have to register (free access) to view the library of videos.
WordPress Basics: Free Video Tutorials – Michelle Shaeffer has compiled a few basic video tutorials on her very helpful site. Titles include “How to Delete (and Recover) or Temporarily Hide Pages” and “How to Add a YouTube Video to Your Blog Post.”
WordPress TV – You’ll find hundreds of searchable video tutorials here – from basic to advanced. Titles include “How to Create an Image Gallery in WordPress” to the more advanced, “Using Ajax In Your Plugins.”
WP101 – This site aims to help folks build and manage their own website using WordPress. A few videos are free, but you’ll need to subscribe to gain access to most of the video tutorials. Subscription options range from $19 (one-time access) to $79 (lifetime access).
Lynda.com – An online software training web site, Lynda.com has 30 (and counting) useful WordPress video tutorials that teach you how to build a blog or website using WordPress, configure it for SEO, design a WordPress theme and much more.
Udemy – This terrific site offers courses on a wide variety of subjects, including hundreds on WordPress. Get started with WordPress Tutorial: A Guide to WordPress for Beginners, an gigantic blog post that’s more like an illustrated E-Book.
