App of the Week: Evernote Adds Long Awaited Reminders For To-Do Lists and Tasks
The Evernote faithful just got rewarded with the highly anticipated Reminders feature turning the already popular note taking application into a robust to-do list machine to manage projects and tasks.
There are tons of to-do lists applications out there – some, excellent – but a to-do list is only useful if you look at it every day and check off as you go. Since we already have Evernote open on our computer all day, every day, and on our phones and tablets, it makes sense to have all that functionality in once place. In fact, according to Evernote, Reminders was the most requested feature of all time.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Adding a reminder pins the note to the top of your note list
- Add a due date to receive in-app and email notifications
- Mark notes as Done when you complete them
- See reminders and get notifications for notes in shared notebooks
Like everything in Evernote, Reminders is quick and easy: create a note, click on the alarm clock/checkbox icon and choose a date.
If you’re not on Evernote every day, you can choose to get an alert or ‘reminder’ via email.
A bonus treat with the new release is the redesigned vertical list view on the desktop app which replaces the default horizontal view. You can now create or edit notes without double-clicking to open the note in a new window. Great improvement.
The Reminders feature is currently available on Evernote for Mac, iOS and Evernote Web.
