App of the Week: Prismatic – Your Personalized Newsfeed

by rocketmatter-admin September 21, 2012

Prismatic filters the news and offers recommendations based on users social media activity on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.

Prismatic has a newsfeed for every interest. Your home feed is a smart mix of all your interests

You can signup on their website or download the iPhone app and signup in-app. Create a login with a unique username and start choosing your interests or connect to one or more of your social media accounts so Prismatic can learn about your interests based on your social activity.

Or you can do both, which is what I did. I created a username and password and then chose which social media channels I wanted to connect to. I chose Twitter. Connecting your account allows you to share links on Twitter with one click while reading articles in-app.

Although it connects to and bases its news filtering algorithm on users social networks, Prismatic has begun to develop its own ecosystem based on users activity within the application. It looks promising.

If you consume news on the go, download the app and give it a try. The iPhone app is slick and fast, but I would suggest doing the initial setup on the website which then syncs with the app.
