App of the Week: Reflector – Display Your iPhone or iPad on a Computer
If you’ve ever tried to display your mobile device on a big screen without wires or an Apple TV, you know how complicated it can be. Enter, the Reflector app. Reflector is an AirPlay receiver that allows you to display your mobile device on a big screen without any hullabaloo.
Reflector requires nothing but your mobile device and your computer. Everything on your screen is wirelessly streamed to your computer in real time. Once installed, all you need to do is activate AirPlay on your compatible iOS device.
Unlike the AirPlay feature on your Apple TV, Reflector can support multiple devices to one computer. This allows for side-by-side comparisons, multiple presenters, competitions, and more. While there is no limit the amount of devices that can be connected simultaneously, the number of devices you can connect will vary based on the processing power of your computer.
Reflector allows you to record your mobile devices, as well. This includes device frames, audio, and full video that can be used for later review, presentations, and webcasts.
There is also a password protection feature that will restrict access and keep out unwanted presenters.
This app has huge implications for demonstrations and presentations in all industries. It is available from Squirrels website for both Mac and Windows. It’s free to try, and $12.99 to buy, but if you find yourself giving presentations via your mobile device, it’s invaluable.
