Ditch Your Printer for On-Demand Printing With FedEx Office

    Contents

Removing printers from your desk enables a faster move to a more automated, paperless office. It cuts down on casual, non-essential printing and enhances adoption of applications to consume information and manage documents.

A printer-less office also promotes a healthier environment as laser and ink jet printer cartridges take many gallons of oil to manufacture and end up in landfills.

A great alternative is using the newly enhanced FedEx Office cloud based “Print & Go” service.

Print to FedEx from your computer or Google Docs

FedEx Office offers customers the ability to upload files from their computer and send to a FedEx Office location for printing, where print jobs can be picked up at a scheduled time. Customers can track orders and view or reorder previously ordered documents.

Here’s the quick and easy process:

      • Select “Set up a Document” from the FedEx Office home page, click the “Upload Files” button, and select the documents, presentations or brochures from your computer or from a third party cloud-based product such as Google Docs, that you want to print. You can also select documents from your Dropbox or Box account.
      • Preview and set print options for your documents by selecting “Set Print Options” for each print job in the list.
      • Click on “Checkout”, select a FedEx location (or if you prefer, have it mailed to you), enter contact and payment information, and submit. You’ll get a retrieval code to input into a FedEx print kiosk or to give to an agent behind the counter to print.

To save your preferences, track orders and earn FedEx rewards, you’ll need to register for an account.

If you have a FedEx close by , another option is to save your files to a flash drive, walk-in and print.

I use both options and it’s convenient, with no “printer out of order” issues or another exasperated trip to an office supply store to purchase yet another, costly ink cartridge.

But what about the convenience of printing plane and train tickets, maps and travel directions? Get out of the habit of printing these items and use mobile apps and notes instead. It’s convenient, cost efficient and environmentally prudent.
