A Healthy Office is a Productive Office: Good Habits
Few things affect our ability to get work done more than poor health. There is no magic potion for a healthy office. Good health takes a day to day awareness and practice. Like remembering to drink enough water, eating right, exercising regularly and methodically getting up from your desk for a quick stretch.
Here are a few tips to help you stay healthy and ramp up your productivity at work…and in life.
Get a Standup desk or Treadmill desk
The perils of sitting at your desk all day are well documented. But many of us have work to do that requires staring at a screen and typing for hours on end. Solution? Stand up at your desk and work.
Check out our post on adjustable-height desks. They take some getting used to and are not terribly inexpensive, but the benefits are many, including burning more calories and keeping your back in top shape. It also keeps you stimulated and more creative. If you don’t want to spring for a desk right away, try putting your laptop on a milk crate on your desk in 15 minute spurts throughout the day.
Need a bigger challenge? Try a Treadmill Desk.
Managing Stress Through Mindfulness
“Mindfulness,” or paying attention in the present moment with an open mind, reduces our inclination to dwell on the past, and worry about the future. Mindfulness also increases focus and concentration, and, because it is investigative, it’s a good fit for attorneys.
Exercise at your desk
Just because you’re sitting down doesn’t mean you can’t work those knots out and de-stress. You can Instantly De-Stress With Progressive Muscle Relaxation.
These practices are much more useful when performed regularly so start now and make them a habit.
