Rocket Matter Commemorates 10 Years with Blowout Celebration

This past weekend, we at Rocket Matter celebrated ten successful years with the people who got us where we are today. Our employees, investors, family, channel partners, advisors, and other professionals who are part of our universe joined us for a really fun, beautiful event in Boca Raton, where our headquarters are located.
We actually began celebrating our 10-year anniversary in November of 2017, which marked a full decade since our first client, Peter Sosin, started using Rocket Matter. This weekend, we marked the launch of our public debut, when three blogs first mentioned us in February ’08: The Mac Lawyer, Home Office Warrior, and Mac Law Students.
Ten years is a long time, especially for a technology company. 70% of businesses do not make it this long. And only 4% have had the kind of success we’ve had. It’s a little mind-boggling that one idea can turn into something that affects the course of people’s lives. Sure, we have a great product, but that’s not all. Our team has forged deep friendships. We have a great culture and a wonderful mission.  And two of our employees recently got engaged! So needless to say we had much to celebrate.

The party marked one of many celebrations to come this year. And it was really a perfect evening! Along with great food, drinks, and company, we had live music, a photo booth, and a mentalist who literally blew our guests away with his magic. However, the best part of the night was the warmth and palpable energy in the room—because that’s what Rocket Matter is really all about. I feel incredibly lucky to have not only such a dedicated, talented, passionate staff, but also so many people who have stood behind this company since day one.
It’s been such a pleasure serving the legal profession. It’s no secret that I believe that lawyers are the heroes of our time. (Just take a look at our Legal Freedom Fighter series if you want to read some really inspirational stories.) And it’s been fun going beyond the software —getting out to trade shows and speaking engagements and meeting all of the creative, brilliant, and all-around awesome people in the legal technology business.

When Rocket Matter began, I did not think anything revolutionary about it. I just thought I was building another web-based application, as I had for the financial and human resources industries. However, because of the complete lack of cloud-based practice management offerings at the time, it turns out we made history.
Lincoln once said “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”  Well, that’s exactly what we’ve done over the past ten years with our little corner of the universe. And that’s what we will continue to do for many years to come.
