Wednesday Wisdom: Use Advanced Search To Create Matter Reports With Billing Overview

Last week we discussed the new advanced search option and how it will provide granular data related to your clients. This week, we explore another dimension of advanced search to see how we can create matter reports to get an overview of billing and receivables.
The advanced matter search will provide granular data on the status,  balance, and pending invoicing amount for each matter. If you would like an overview of all matters, just use the ” * ” key to display them.

The user is able to filter their search in 6 different ways:

1. Date the matter was opened

2. Client’s name

3. Tag on the matter

4. Matter name

5. Matter status

6. Specific client and matter

Let’s not forget that, for all advanced searches, you can save the search with all of its filtering options to use the next time you need to explore this dimension of your practice. Lastly you can export the data and format it in Excel for your business purposes.
