What's Happening at ABA TECHSHOW: An Inside Look

It’s a bright, sunny day here in Chicago, and the ABA TECHSHOW is well under way. The theme this year is health and wellness, so there’s some meditation, a little yoga, and, of course, the inaugural 5K. If that doesn’t help you unwind, you can walk the EXPO floor and snuggle puppies or play with mini-robots.
Here’s Adriana Linares, Chair of the ABA TECHSHOW Planning Board, snuggling a puppy with Rocket Matter CEO Larry Port.
However, TECHSHOW attendees are primarily here to learn, and there is plenty of opportunity to do that. From startups to cyber security, this conference has it all. For instance, today Tim Baran and Heidi Alexander discuss Evernote as a Law Practice Tool, while Tom Lambotte and Katie Floyd address Everything AND The Kitchen Sink – Mac Practice Advice from the Pros. Allan Mackenzie and Ivan Hemmans talk about You Own It, Now Use It! Top Excel Spreadsheets for Lawyers. You get it—there are many sessions that cover all tech-related things lawyers need to know.
In between sessions, people hit the EXPO floor to network and catch up with old friends. It’s a long day, but luckily the Hilton keeps the temperature right around freezing, so everyone is wide awake (ok, so maybe not considering that at 10:15 a.m. the line to get Starbucks is STILL about 20 people deep. (Grrr….it’s going to get ugly if I don’t my caffeine soon.)
TECHSHOW isn’t just a daytime event, of course. Tonight there’s a welcome reception along with Taste of TECHSHOW dinners at some great restaurants in Chicago. Stay tuned to Legal Productivity and check out Rocket Matter’s updates on Twitter and Facebook. If you’re not here this year (you are sorely missed by the way), at least you can get a glimpse into what’s going on at this annual event.
